President Mnangagwa commissioned the Judicial Service Commission Chinhoyi Court that had stalled for almost two decades only to come to life with the advent of the second republic.
Speaking during the commissioning, President ED Mnangagwa said it was his pleasure to preside over the commissioning of the court complex. The new building will accommodate the High Court and magistrates courts.
JSC plans to establish a High Court seat following completion of the state-of-the-art complex situated in Chinhoyi CBD. It has eight courtrooms, offices, a library, a canteen and a kitchen.
The project was wholly funded by Government of Zimbabwe and is expected to ease office space challenges faced by judicial officers and other support staff such as clerks.
The event was held in strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols, a development which saw scores of people wishing to attend the event undergoing testing while others received vaccine doses at the complex site.
